Unsolicited feedback on the Foundation Guide Syllabus v4 ISBN 978-0-9536056-6-8. Used with permission January 2025. A personal response by the author was made to clarify review comments.
Dear C. Newbould,
I hope this email finds you well. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your ISTQB Foundation Level certification study guide. Thanks to the clarity and quality of its content, I was able to successfully pass my exam in December (I successfully passed with a 95% score).
The book provided me with a solid understanding of software testing principles, and I truly appreciated its structured approach and practical examples. Given the positive results I achieved, I am considering using more of your publications in the future to further expand my knowledge in the field.
Once again, thank you for your valuable contribution to the software testing community. I look forward to exploring more of your work. Best regards, JS
Advanced Test Analyst publication Syllabus v3.1.2 – Reviews – A response by the publisher.
In response to somewaht negative reviews on the Advanced Test Analyst publication shown on Amazon Books from Taya 4 Dec 2024 and A. Davis 19 Dec 2024.
The author and publisher are unable to respond to these reviews directly or through Amazon, so here is a brief statement.
Each guide for the ISTQB exam publication takes hundreds of hours in content creation, checking, validating and proofreading. We assume the publication schedule will take over 3,000 hours covering a period of six to ten months. The publisher and author will always respond to queries and questions raised by individuals about the published book. This is clearly stated in every book. An email to contact[@]revisionary.co.uk will guarantee a response. There can be frustration over some possibly confusing aspects of a syllabus, examples and/or questions. We intend to offer more information than the Syllabus and example questions are often a little more difficult than those expected in an exam.
Occasionally, errors may not be caught in a final version before publication. When we are notified, a response to an investigation by the author and/or others will be provided to the person who raised the question. If necessary, a correction will be made and posted to the revisionary.co.uk updates section of the website. Neither ‘Taya” nor “A Davis” inquired. In one case, the ‘error’ was trivial and pending an update to the master publication. We urge anyone with a question on the published text to reach out, so we can help you reach your objective of certification by ISTQB in recognition of the hard work and commitment made.
All ISTQB qualifications take time and effort by the individual. Following successful studies and passing the exam, the candidate’s name will be found on the successful candidates register at scr.istqb.org
The Advanced Test Analyst Guide ISBN 978-0-9536056-3-7 published October 2022 has over 300 pages and contains over 160 questions. Each question has one or two correct options and three valid, but incorrect answers. So out of nearly 700 possible answer options throughout the book, there may be inaccuracies.
Proofreading is a complex operation and a variety of methods and experienced individuals are involved in the process. For example, the Foundation Guide v4 took over three months to proofread following a change of syllabus and new content creation to incorporate the changes.
We do not offer training courses to prepare for ISTQB qualifications. If there is any aspect of our publications that is unclear, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Thank you.
